SRAPPA Board Vacancies

Have you wanted to get involved with the SRAPPA Board? Now is your chance! There are currently three opportunities to serve on the Board. We are looking to fill the 1st Vice President (voting), Vice President for Education (voting), and Treasurer (voting) positions.

1st Vice President
To be installed at the fall conference

The 1st Vice President will be elected to hold office for a one (1) year term and is elected with the intent to ascend to President Elect, then President, then Immediate Past-President for a total of a 4-year commitment. The duties and responsibilities of the 1st Vice President are as follows: 

  1. Attend the SRAPPA Spring and Fall Board Meetings at fall host site city.
  2. Serve as a voting member on the Nominating Committee.
  3. Attend APPA national sessions and SRAPPA annual meetings.
  4. Serve as a voting member on the Board of Directors.
  5. Work with all Board Members to understand roles and responsibilities.
  6. Support VP of Communications with website edits and updates.
  7. Work with President-Elect to develop articles for association newsletter.
  8. Support each committee that is operational in scope, i.e., Membership, Awards, Professional Development
  9. Work on Committees as assigned by the President or on a voluntary basis.
  10. Support President and President-Elect in coverage for Board vacancies.

Vice President of Education
To be installed as soon as possible

The Vice President for Education will be elected to serve a three (3) year term and may be elected to serve an additional consecutive term. The duties and responsibilities of the Vice President for Education are as follows:

  1. Chair and coordinate scholarship programs for The Leadership Academy and Institute for Facilities Management.
  2. Coordinate APPA educational opportunities throughout the region to include but not be limited to: Supervisor’s Toolkit, Drive-in Workshops, and P2P, and any other educational opportunities.
  3. Chair and coordinate Credentialing program for CEFP for SRAPPA.
  4. Attend the SRAPPA Spring and Fall Board Meetings at fall host site city.
  5. Provide a written report for the SRAPPA Board of Directors Spring and Annual meetings.
  6. Serves as a voting member of the Nominating Committee.
  7. Serve as a voting member of the Board of Directors.
  8. Invite non-SRAPPA institutions to experience the benefits of SRAPPA sponsored professional development to encourage institutions to become members.
  9. Solicit information from member institutions for new ideas for professional development.
  10. Work closely with the SRAPPA representative to the APPA Continuous Learning & Curriculum Development working group.

Treasurer
To be installed as soon as possible

The Treasurer will be elected to serve a three (3) year term and may be elected to serve an additional consecutive term. The duties and responsibilities of the Treasurer are as follows:

  1. Responsible for reporting and keeping the Board of Directors informed of the financial integrity of SRAPPA.
  2. Collect and dispense funds as approved by the SRAPPA Board of Directors.
  3. Present a financial statement at the annual meeting for the current year.
  4. Present a financial statement for the fiscal year ending March 31 at the spring board meeting.
  5. File tax returns for the association each fiscal year.
  6. File the annual report with the Corporation Commission of the State of Virginia each year in April. Notification of the need for filing will usually come from the corporation’s registered agent at the APPA office in Alexandria, VA.
  7. Attend the SRAPPA Spring and Fall Board meetings at fall host site city.
  8. Provide a written report for the SRAPPA Board of Directors spring and annual meetings.
  9. Attend the APPA and SRAPPA annual meetings, national sessions.
  10. Serve as a voting member of the SRAPPA Executive Committee.
  11. Serve as a voting member on the SRAPPA Board of Directors.
